Jimmer Fredette Leads Group Of Finalists For Bob Cousy Award

Jimmer Fredette has taken the college basketball world by storm with several high-scoring performances out at BYU. For his efforts, he was named one of the finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, given annually to the best point guard in the nation.

Fredette is joined by Connecticut's Kemba Walker, Washington's Isaiah Thomas, Duke's Nolan Smith, St. Mary's Mickey McConnell, Illinois's Demetri McCarney, Kentucky's Brandon Knight, San Diego State's DJ Gay, Villanova's Corey Fisher and Cleveland State's Norris Cole. The guess here is that Walker will be Fredette's top competition for the award, but all of those players bring something to the table.

The Cousy Award is given to the nation's best point guard among all NCAA divisions. A selection committee will decide who wins after narrowing down the competition to five on March 10. In the meantime, fans are allowed to vote on the award's web site until March 8, and their collective tally will count for one vote for the selection committee when they make their final decision.

Maryland's Greivis Vasquez won the award last season.
