The marquee matchup in Maryland Saturday features undefeated North Point versus Patterson of Baltimore. Patterson is led by diminutive sophomore point guard Aquille Carr, whose 25-points in the semifinal paced the Clippers.
Carr averaged 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 steals in 2009-2010 earning the MaxPrep's National Freshman of the Year Award. This season, he’s averaging about 32 points per game and is quickly becoming a legend in Baltimore high school hoops.
North Point, located near Washington, D.C., is making its first state championship appearance in style. With a 26-0 record, they look to top off a perfect season behind leading scorer Devonte Thomas who has not been held to single-digit points in a game since January.
Featuring a balanced offense, North Point sports a quartet of players averaging ten-plus points per game.
In other action, Milford Mill, located less than a half hour from Baltimore, looks to defend its Class 3A state championship versus Centennial.
