Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ronald Zubar is set to miss the rest of the season following back surgery, according to manager Mick McCarthy. Zubar, who has 14 starts in the league with Wolves this season and one goal, has not featured since being substituted in the 55th minute against Blackpool in late February, and the side will have to do without him for the immediate future. McCarthy is quoted in the Guardian as saying:

Zubar has had his operation on his back and he's out for the season. Ronald's been an important player for us and it's a blow, but we can't do anything about it. His performances have been fantastic.

Zubar, acquired from Marseille for a fee in the region of £2.5M, is in his second season of a four-year contract with the club, having made over twenty appearances in the 2009/10 campaign in which the Premier League newcomers successfully fought off relegation.
