Jadeveon Clowney Stopped, Searched By Columbia Police

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was the number one high school football recruit in the nation this year, and chose South Carolina over Clemson because of his comfort level in Columbia and his relationship with the coaches. That familial feeling for Clowney seems to have extended to everyone in Columbia: not only did Clowney receive a standing ovation when he entered the Salty Nut on Thursday night, but he received some cuddles from Columbia's finest in the parking lot between the bar and another Columbia establishment, Pavlov's.

Clowney was only momentarily detained by police during a neighborhood search for a man matching his description. If there are two people of Clowney's size and strength wandering the Five Points neighborhood of Columbia, then Columbia truly is a city of giants wandering the earth. Clowney is still a high school senior, though there are no classes at his high school today due to a furlough day, and as one message board commenter put it, "What Carolina student HASN'T been detained [by] CPD in the parking lot between Pavlov's and Salty Nut?" If true, Clowney has already checked one USC prerequisite for graduation off his list.
