On Saturday, No. 8 Notre Dame earned a share of the Big East regular season basketball title after surviving a determined rally from UConn. Despite Kemba Walker's 34 points, the Huskies fell at home, 70-67.
With 8:30 left in the game, the Irish held a 60-52 lead. Ben Hansbrough fouled out, however, which seemed to open the door for Walker and the Huskies. Walker scored 11 points over the next four minutes to briefly give Connecticut the lead.
The Irish managed to recover in the final minutes, however. Down three points with the game clock in single digits, UConn had a chance to send the game to overtime, but were unable to get a shot in the air before the buzzer. Walker had a spectacular day in a losing effort, scoring 34 points and going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
This win gives Notre Dame a 14-4 conference record for he season. UConn, meanwhile, finishes at 9-9 in the Big East.
