Sampdoria supporters, after seeing their team lose 3-0 to AC Milan Saturday, decided words were simply not enough to express their dismay at the club's form, and threw sticks and stones at the bus upon its arrival back in Genoa. Windows were broken. Players' lives were threatened. And yet somehow, the hoped-for result did not transpire: Samp are now in 18th place, two points from safety, after Cesena won 1-0 over Bari on Sunday.
Admittedly, it must be frustrating to be a Samp supporter right now. The team started the season in the Champions League qualifiers, only to be denied by Werder Bremen. The club sold Antonio Cassano to Milan (who then converted a penalty and set up another goal to help the rossoneri get the win on Saturday) and Giampaolo Pazzini to Inter, replacing their stars with...well, no one, really. The team looks out of answers and resigned to Serie B.
But, geez, bruising and battering the players isn't going to help lift Sampdoria to safety.
