Terrance Toliver 2011 NFL Draft Prospect Notes

The 2011 NFL Draft is right around the corner and the staff at Mocking the Draft is working hard to bring you the most in depth information possible.  We have spent countless hours reviewing college games in an attempt to produce scouting reports for each of the prospects. However, time is running out so we decided to release some scouting notes in order to cover a wider range of prospects.

After the jump you can check out the notes taken in order to come up with this final analysis.  Be sure to check out our full scouting reports HERE.  Also give us some feedback on whether or not these notes provide useful information.

Final Word: This past season was a disappointment for Toliver as he was unable to improve his draft stock.  He suffered from horrible quarterback play which definitely hurt his impact on the field.  However, despite the struggles Toliver gave 100% effort which was apparent in his run blocking.  His toughness combined with his size makes him an attractive prospect for a team looking to add a bigger wide receiver.  In order to effectively use his size, Toliver needs to work on consistently going up and getting the ball at its highest point.

If he would have put up better numbers this past season his draft stock would have been much higher.  It is possible that whatever team selects Toliver will get a real steal.  You cannot teach his combination of size, speed, and hustle and that alone will attract attention.

Notes:

  • Toliver has ton of drive and works hard as a blocker
  • He has good blocking form with inside hands and good leg drive
  • Defensive backs will not be happy to see Toliver opposite them b/c of his blocking effort
  • He has good awareness and is able to find the open zone in the defense
  • Toliver does a good job of quickly snapping his head around and locating the football
  • He runs good routes and snaps them off as he works back towards the quarterback
  • Toliver uses his body to block out the defender
  • He has good hands and is able to pluck the ball out of the air but has a tendency to cradle the ball
  • Toliver has a good quick burst off the line but is a strider and doesn't appear to have a good 2nd gear
