Rangers Vs. Orioles: Texas Gets Revenge In Nightcap Of Double-Header, 13-1

Zach Britton shut the Texas Rangers down in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, but the Rangers got their revenge, capping the day with a 13-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore drew first blood in the second inning, but it was all downhill from there as Texas piled on the runs. When the carnage was over, the Rangers had a 13-1 win, atoning for Saturday's first game and then some.

Adam Jones scored the Orioles' only run of the day, putting Baltimore on the board with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the second inning. But in the top of the third, Texas struck back with force, plating six runs to take a commanding lead. With the bases loaded and one out, Elvis Andrus singled to center, bringing home Mike Napoli and Mitch Moreland to put the Rangers in front, 2-1. Josh Hamilton cleared the bases after Andrus stole second, followed by a two-run Adrian Beltre home run as Texas made it out of the inning with a 6-1 lead.

The Rangers weren't done, though, and added two more runs in the fourth on a Napoli solo shot and a Kinsler double that plated Moreland. Just for good measure, Texas added another in the eighth on a Nelson Cruz sacrifice fly, followed by three more in ninth to make it a 13-1 game.

Cruz finished the day 1-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Beltre was 3-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Hamilton and Andrus each finished with two RBIs for the Rangers as the Texas hitters feasted on Jake Arrieta and Chris Jakubauskas. Matt Harrison gave up just two hits, and the home run to Jones, in seven innings to take the win for Texas.
