Andrea Pirlo Says Goodbye To AC Milan

Andrea Pirlo, who spent ten years with AC Milan, said goodbye to the Italian club on Wednesday, realizing that he wasn't going to be signed to a contract extension, as Milan were only prepared to offer him a one-year deal. Pirlo missed four months of the season due to injury, and with the scudetto winning club eager to shift toward a slightly younger squad, it seems there is no longer a place for the 31 year old midfielder.

Milan are still up in the air about the venerable Clarence Seedorf, but have offered extensions to Alessandro Nesta, Mark Van Bommel and Flavio Roma, who have an average age of 35 years. Pirlo's wages were likely as much of an issue as his age and injury, however.

Juventus, meanwhile, appear to think their squad is not quite living up to the Old Lady moniker, and are set to offer a three-year deal to the veteran come the summer.
