Like it or not, soccer's bi-annual silly season, otherwise known as the international transfer window, is getting ready to fly open for the summer and the rumors surrounding various players are already getting fired up.
Several reports have come out today, all unconfirmed, say the Catalan club is working on a deal to bring Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi to the Nou Camp. The current rumors have between €30-40 million and possibly a player or two going back to Villarreal in exchange. The name of 20-year-old forward Bojan Krkić has come up several times in connection with a possible deal, but it should be stressed that this is all rumor and conjecture at this point.
The only firm facts we have are denials from both Rossi and Barcelona about a deal either being done or in the works. Of course, it's not like either are coming to come out at admit what's going on, but it's important to properly label this story.
Rossi is coming off his best season as a professional having scored 32 goals for the Yellow Submarine in all competitions. David Villa's struggle to really settle on the field this season, along with a lack of experienced depth up front for Pep Guardiola's team certainly lends some level of credibility to Barcelona trying to sign Rossi. There's no doubt he could help and the very idea of Rossi partnering with Lionel Messi is no doubt already giving La Liga managers nightmares.
It's definitely going to be an interesting story to follow.
