Former St. John's Red Storm wing Dwayne Polee II announced in May that he would be leaving the program to be closer to his ailing mother, with some noting that playing time could also be a factor. Monday he unveiled his new school: the San Diego St. Aztecs.
San Diego puts him somewhat close to his family's home in Los Angeles.
He'll join recent Utah Utes transfer J.J. O'Brien as the second noteworthy freshman to join SDSU as of late, adding a lot of raw and spindly athleticism to a program looking to add its second-ever Sweet Sixteen bid to an impressive 2010.
Last year, the six-foot-seven Polee averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, playing 14.9 minutes per. Perhaps his best statistical game came against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, when he scored 12, pulled down six boards and added a steal, an assist and a blocked shot.
