I'm back with another hypothetical to prevent lockout suicide. This one will be predicting the variety of individual awards given at the end of each season. If I forget an award or 2 I'll update my predictions because these are the ones I remember off the top of my head.
MVP: Phillip Rivers: I think VJax comes back for another year and helps the biggest douche in NFL history post yet another awesome fantasy football career only to choke in the playoffs. I think he'll get close to 5000 yards if we get a full TC. He should get the wins with the ST improvements they made via the draft.
Comeback player of the year: Sidney Rice: I fully expect him to get more than 280 yards, if he stays healthy. I think he'll win it even if he does stay in Minny.
DPOTY: DeMarcus Ware: The guy always puts up monster stats and yet never has won this award. If the Cowboys can make a push for the playoffs and he gets 15+ sacks, I think he'll get it. Rob Ryan as his new DC doesn't hurt.
OROTY: Cam Newton: The only way he doesn't start is if the lockout goes so long he doesn't get a lot of practce time. If he does get the job, I have trouble seeing anyone else in this draft putting up the numbers he does with his abilities. I'll also say that I think Ponder will make a strong run for this. He's very pro ready and with AP behind him he should be able to comfortably work the play action game enough to let him put up solid numbers.
DROTY: Von Miller: Maybe I am a homer, but with Doom on the other side I think there's a great chance he gets enough sacks to win the award.
Coach of the year: Ken Whisenhunt: I don't think the Cardinals will be great this year, but if they get a solid vet QB I think Ken can win this division, and doing so with only 4 wins last year will make him a likely candidate.
Exectutive of the Year: Mark Dominik: If this team makes the playoffs, I have a hard time seeing Dominik not winning it after drafting 3rd overall 2 years ago.
I'm not sure if this last one is an award, but:
Assistant coach of the Year: Rob Ryan: I was really high on him for Denver to pursue as their HC, but clearly no one in the NFL thought he was ready yet. In Dallas, he'll be able to show his coaching abilities with a talented D (for once!). I'm really looking out for Dallas' D. Rob has overacheived with lackluster D's, and with an actual good D, I think Rob Ryan is primed to show why he's no short fiddle in the Ryan family.
If you guys can think of anyother awards I'll add them to mine, but off the top of my head this is what I got. What you got MTD?
