Miroslav Klose and Bayern Munich have parted ways after the legendary German striker spent four years at the club, where he scored 52 goals in 98 appearances. With Klose both out of contract and on the way down - and Mario Gomez finding his feet - Munich had little need to sign the 32-year-old to the long term deal he was asking for, with chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge bidding him goodbye on the club's official site.
Unfortunately, our talks with Miroslav Klose have not produced a positive result. We’d have been happy for him to extend his stay, but when it came to the length of a new contract, we were unable to agree on a mutually acceptable period. FC Bayern Munich wishes Miroslav Klose and his family all the best for the future, and thanks him for our partnership over the last four years.
Klose has drawn interest from several clubs, with the strongest link to Lazio in the Serie A. It'll be interesting to see whether he does leave the Bundesliga after spending his entire club career in the league.
