The sorted tale of talented college basketball player Taran Buie took another unfortunate turn on Wednesday when he was scheduled to be arraigned in Pennsylvania on charges of misdemeanor theft and receiving stolen property. Buie had recently left the Penn State basketball team and verbally committed to Hofstra. During his freshman season at Penn State he had been suspended in December and never played again after violating team rules. Prior to being suspended last season, Buie had been twice cited by police.
The Centre Daily Times reported that court documents now charge Buie with taking an iPhone, valued at $600, from a Penn State campus dorm during a party and using the phone "hundreds if not thousands of times" over several months. He's also accused of taking a Droid phone he found in the the back of a taxi and not returning it.
He is charged with keeping lost property and two counts of receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. All are misdemeanors.
