Who is in and who is out of the chase?

With only eight races to go until the chase there is a dogfight to get in.  Let's discuss who is in and who is out.

Brad Keselowski- In.  Hey may not be in the top 20 in points just yet, but he is just a few points out. Bk has turned it around a ton with getting a win at Kansas and leading 79 laps at Kentucky.  Another win is possible and that would help even more to get in the chase.  Look for him to climb up in the standings and past David Ragan.

David Ragan-Out.  If not for plate racing, David Ragan would not even be in this conversation.  He has improved from 2009 and 2008 but for a driver has just lead 45 laps to be in the chase would not be good for NASCAR when a legitimate championship contender could be left out.  Look for Ragan to run decent here and there but ultimately miss the chase.

Greg Biffle: Out.  WIth Michigan still on the schedule you must consider him a factor or at least the wild card.  And being 14th in points he could very well make it into the top ten.  But Biffle just hasn't been as good as Edwards or Kenseth this year.  Expect a strong effort at Michigan and perhaps Bristol but Biffle will miss out on his first chase since 2007.

Juan Pablo Montoya: Out.  Indy and Watkins Glen could allow Montoya to get in however.  He is 13th in points and if he wins those two races he will be locked in  However Montoya has ye to show speed to win a race at any point throughout 2011.  He will run decent but not enough to grab a chase spot.

Clint Bowyer: In.  Clint Bowyer will get into the chase but just barely.  Bowyer had a string of top tens during the spring.  But as of late Bowyer has struggled a bit.  But expect tracks like Loudon, Indy and Bristol to help Bowyer make it into the chase.

Tony Stewart: In.  Tony Stewart is just to good to miss the chase.  He runs this best this time of year and if they can get some good fortune he will win a few before the chase.  But being only 2 points out tenth it is doubtful Stewart will use a wild card.

Dale Earnhardt: Out.  This one many hope (including myself) That I am wrong but his best finish in the last four races is 19th and that is not chase worthy.  He has fallen from 2nd to 8th in points in this time span.  Without a win if he falls out of the top ten, Jr fate may be chaseless.
