Kentucky Guard Jon Hood Suffers Torn ACL From Pick-Up Game

Kentucky coach John Calipari has announced that junior guard Jon Hood suffered a torn right ACL playing in a pickup game on Monday.

According to UK, Hood will undergo surgery once an inflammation subsides, but it's not known when he will return.

Hood scored 26 points in 33 games last season, which ended in the Final Four. He averaging 0.8 point per game.

While Hood was not a big performer on the court, Calipari values his leadership as an upperclassman greatly.

"Veteran leadership on a young team is irreplaceable but Jon will use this to come back stronger."

Given the usual timetable for recovery and rehab from a torn ACL, there's a chance Hood could redshirt this season, though no plans have been made yet.

Hood was Mr Basketball of Kentucky as a senior in high school.
