Orlando Hudson Injury: Padres 2B Carted From Field

Thursday afternoon in Miami, San Diego Padres second baseman suffered a potentially serious injury and was eventually placed on a back-board and driven off the field on a cart.

In the bottom of the seventh of the Marlins-Padres game, the Marlins had two runners on base with two outs, trailing 5-3. Omar Infante lifted a pop into foul ground behind first base. Ranging far from his position, Hudson stretched to make the rally-killing grab before slamming into the wall, the impact folding his body into itself.

Hudson held on to the ball, but remained on his back and soon the medical staffs from both teams arrived, and paramedics joined them.

After at least 10 minutes Hudson was carted from the field. On his way, he gave a thumbs-up and was clearly able to move both hands.

This has already been a rough season for Hudson, who's been on the Disabled List twice, first with a strained hamstring and then a strained groin. If Hudson's out of action, the playing time at second base will probably go to Alberto González and rookie Logan Forsythe.
