Chargers Reportedly Bringing Back TE Randy McMichael

Stay connected with SB Nation

The San Diego Chargers decided to bring back free agent TE Randy McMichael, according to several reports. McMichael was with the Chargers last year catching 20 balls for 211 yards and now he'll re-join the potent offense lead by QB Philip Rivers.

McMichael won't be the difference between two wins and 10 wins but at 32 years old he's a solid veteran that will help in this unique offseason. The lockout eliminated all offseason workouts so keeping guys like McMichael become a little more important. He doesn't need to learn the offense and is ready to step right in. In this odd season, players like that are more valuable.

His contract with the Chargers is for one year and reportedly the veteran minimum. He can officially sign it on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (ET) when full free agency officially opens.
