The Carolina Panthers continued to hand out the money during this free agent period by agreeing to a five-year deal with linebacker James Anderson, according to ESPN. The deal is reportedly worth $22 million and has $8.5 million guaranteed.
Anderson finally moved into the starting linebacker corps in 2010 and the payoff was great. He totaled 98 tackles, picked up 3.5 sacks and forced two fumbles. With new head coach Ron Rivera a defensive-minded coach, Anderson will certainly play a large role in the new defense.
The Panthers earlier on Wednesday reportedly agreed to deals with running back DeAngelo Williams and defensive end Charles Johnson. Williams will reportedly receive a guaranteed $21 million in a $43 million deal. Johnson's deal reportedly has $30 million of the $76 million contract guaranteed.
Will Thomas Davis be the next one to cash in, as ESPN suggests?
