Saints Re-Signing Scott Shanle For Two Years, According To Report

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New Orleans Saints have re-signed linebacker Scott Shanle to a two-year, $4 million dollar deal, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora has been attempting to keep pace with Adam Schefter during this week's insanity, and although he hasn't quite reached Schefter's level on the big names, he's performed admirably with B-list players, in particular with the specifics of their contracts. Unending kudos to him.

As for the Saints, they re-sign one of the steadier players on their defense since they acquired Shanle from the Dallas Cowboys in 2006. Shanle has started at least 14 games in every season he's been in Nawlins, never tallying fewer than 68 tackles in that time.

Shanle has pulled himself up by his bootstraps in the NFL. The 31-year-old was drafted by the Rams in 2003 in the seventh round, then cut halfway through the season. He worked his way onto the field with the 'Boys in '04, and found himself starting after Dat Nguyen's retirement halfway through the 2005 season.
