Read More: Peyton Manning (QB - DEN), Indianapolis Colts
The drama in Indianapolis this offseason has been QB Peyton Manning's contract. Colts owner Jim Irsay recently expressed frustration that the deal wasn't done and said he was prepared to make Manning the highest paid player in the league.
Manning's response? He says he doesn't need to be the highest paid player so long as the Colts use the extra money towards making the team better. Via Indy Star:
"I'm willing to take less than they've offered if they are going to take that money to keep players we need to keep and go get other players. All I want is for them to have the cap and the cash to keep the players they want to keep and to sign other players.''
Also notable is that in the same interview with the Indianapolis Star Manning says his contract should be done by "today, tomorrow, definitely Sunday."
We'll see what the final numbers are but from many accounts, including those of Colts fans, this thing needs to get done very soon.
