Trent Edwards Signs With Oakland Raiders As Jason Campbell Insurance Policy

Trent Edwards has bounced around without truly catching on and now he'll head to Oakland to try again. The Oakland Raiders reportedly reached a one-year agreement with Edwards on Saturday as teams begin to look for veteran quarterbacks to add depth to the position.

The news came from Adam Schefter and includes a telling note about the Raiders quarterback spot.

Former Bills and Jaguars quarterback Trent Edwards reached agreement with Oakland on a one-year deal to back up Jason Campbell.

Well then. Everything should be just fine and dandy in Oakland with the Jason Campbell, Trent Edwards tandem. Prolific passing is clearly on the horizon.

Edwards has been a backup for the better part of his career, both in Buffalo and Jacksonville. Last year, while playing for the Jaguars, Edwards appeared in three games, starting one -- the final game of the 2010 season. He completed 29-47 passes for 280 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.
