After crashing into the center-field wall at Coors Field on Sunday, Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez left the game on a cart. Then injury looked bad, and considering that Gonzalez missed time with a wrist problem last season, it was almost a given that he was going on the disabled list.
Almost a given, but not quite. After x-rays were negative, Gonzalez said that even though he couldn't really hold a bat after the injury, he was expecting to miss the disabled list entirely, hoping to come back before the All-Star break.
Now from Troy Renck from the Denver Post:
Cargo will play catch, run and try some light swings w a fungo bat. Realistically he won't play until Thursday at earliest
Good news for the Rockies, who probably felt as if they had irritated the wrong baseball god after Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki went down to injuries on consecutive nights. Both are day-to-day, and neither should to on the DL.
