Marlins acquire Mike Cameron and cash from #RedSox for a player to be named later or cash.
What we have here is the Red Sox sending Cameron to Florida, along with some undisclosed amount of money to be put towards his remaining 2011 salary. In return, the Red Sox will receive either cash considerations or a young player, presumably a fringe prospect. I don't know when we'll find out which the Red Sox are getting, but it doesn't really matter, because it won't be exciting.
Cameron owns a terrible .477 OPS on the year. However, he was at .729 a year ago and .795 the year before that, and he has a good defensive reputation. In Florida, he should get a good bit of playing time in center field. That said, if Cameron rebounds, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him get traded again, as the Marlins are out of the race and Chris Coghlan is working his way back from an injury. If Cameron shows he can still be useful, he'd fit with a number of contenders.
