Jose Reyes Injury Keeps Mets Shortstop Out On Tuesday

Over the weekend, Mets shortstop Jose Reyes had to come out of a game with discomfort in his hamstring. The good news is that an MRI revealed just a Grade 1 strain, which is the least severe kind of strain. It is so minor a strain that Reyes has avoided the disabled list.

But Reyes is still out, and on Tuesday he will miss his third consecutive game. He took some swings on Monday and intends to do some running soon, but he and the team are trying to take things slowly and cautiously so that Reyes doesn't play before he's ready. The last thing the Mets need is for Reyes to aggravate his injury and turn it into something worse, as has happened to him before.

It shouldn't be long until Reyes is back. In the meantime, Ruben Tejada will hold the fort at shortstop as the NL's good Tejada. Which, considering his .627 OPS, is enough to give me the shivers.
