Former NFL quarterback Joey Harrington suffered a serious, but not life-threatening, series of injuries Sunday night, according to reports. Harrington reportedly sustained a broken collarbone and a punctured lung. Police were told he was "struck from behind by a 26-year-old driving a small SUV" while bicycling in Portland, Oregon.
The driver was cited, and it sounds like Harrington will recover.
Harrington played four years with the Detroit Lions before stints with the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins. He's best known for his Heisman Trophy candidacy as the leader of the Oregon Ducks, which helped make him the No. 3 pick in the 2002 NFL Draft. He was dealt some pretty rough cards during his pro career as far as the teams he found himself a part of, but was known as a positive personality throughout.
