An international friendly? Right before the start of the season? How very novel. About the only interesting news here is that Antonio Cassano captains Italy in his hometown of Bari, which isn't very exciting at all. Anyway, Italy will be deployed in a 4-4-2 diamond, clogging the centre against a Spain midfield missing both Sergio Busquets and Xavi Hernandez.
As a result of the middle presumably being busy, I can't see this as a particularly fun game, but stranger things have happened, I suppose. In the past, I hear some people have been interested in pointless international friendlies right before the season starts. Now that's weird.
Italy (4-4-2 diamond): Gianluigi Buffon; Christian Maggio, Andrea Ranocchia, Giorgio Chiellini, Domenico Criscito; Andrea Pirlo, Daniele de Rossi, Thiago Motta, Alberto Aquilani; Giuseppe Rossi, Antonio Cassano
Spain (4-2-3-1): Iker Casillas; Iraola, Gerard Piqué, Raul Albiol, Alvaro Arbeloa; Javi Martínez, Xabi Alonso; Andres Iniesta, Santi Cazorla, David Silva; Fernando Torres.
