West Brom Vs. Manchester United: David De Gea Answers First Call To Action

All eyes are going to be on David de Gea. When you're a 20-year-old and the new goalkeeper for Manchester United, that is going to be the case and a poor play in the Community Shield that gave Manchester City a goal did not inspire confidence. In his first Premier League test though, de Gea was up to the task. He denied Paul Scharner with a fine save to keep United in front, 1-0.

The play was created by Shane Long, who played Scharner in. If de Gea is lacking in confidence, he didn't show it in charging of of his line to close down the angle. Scharner got a goot shot away, firing it high, but de Gea got a hand to it and saved it well to deny the Baggies. It's only one save, but de Gea looked just like the keeper who played exceptionally for Atletico Madrid, which has to be a smile on the face of every United supporter.
