Carlos Guillen has always been the fragile sort, and he missed the beginning of the 2011 season while recovering from knee surgery. He finally got into his first game of the year with the Tigers on July 16 and held the regular job at second base, but on Sunday, he's headed back to the disabled list. Why? Jeff Seidel:
Carlos Guillen is headed back to the disabled list again, plagued by problems from a sore left wrist.
Guillen was placed on the 15-day DL before Sunday's finale against the Orioles, retroactive to Saturday. The Tigers' second baseman apparently hurt his wrist on a swing a few days ago and said he should be fine after the 15 days expires.
Guillen isn't expected to miss much time, but this is just another injury to add to a long list of injuries. For whatever it's worth, it's not like Guillen was helping much; over 89 trips to the plate, he batted .207 with a .576 OPS. The Tigers shouldn't miss him too badly.
Will Rhymes was recalled from triple-A to take Guillen's spot on the roster, and should find time at second, along with Ramon Santiago and Ryan Raburn.
