Finally, after 57 minutes of absolutely battering the goal of Michel Vorm, Manchester City have finally broken down the door and put a goal into the back of Swansea City's net, taking a 1-0 lead. Based on the way City have played so far, Swansea fans will probably fear that the floodgates could open now. Only Vorm's brilliance is keeping Swansea in the game, and Edin Dzeko's goal was a mere inevitability.
The chance was mostly created by David Silva, who has been the man of the match thus far. Picking up the ball at the halfway line, Silva made a great 35 yard run through the center of the pitch before laying off the ball to Adam Johnson on the right wing. Cutting onto his left foot, Johnson fired a shot on goal and Vorm made an absolutely brilliant save. However, Dzeko was there to tap in the rebound and there was nothing that Vorm could do to prevent the goal.
Shortly afterwards, a visibly limping Nigel De Jong was substituted off for Sergio Aguero, who is now making his Manchester City debut. Swansea have made two substitutions of their own, bringing in Joe Allen and Wayne Routledge for Stephen Dobbie and Leon Britton.
