The NFL preseason schedule is meant to prepare teams for the season with the final result of the game ultimately being meaningless. Most teams say that, as long as they exit the game without any injuries, the preseason is a success. By that measure, the New York Jets failed on Monday Night Football against the Houston Texans.
"Clearly, we've got a long way to go with our protections," said head coach Rex Ryan. "We gotta figure this thing out because it's ridiculous."
Ridiculous indeed. The one thing you can't do in preseason is leave a path in the middle of your offensive line to the quarterback. That's an easy way to get someone, like the quarterback, injured. Luckily for the Jets, that wasn't the case.
