Bad news for the Denver Broncos concerning DT Ty Warren -- his injury is serious. Warren suffered a triceps injury and the Denver Post reports it's a tear which means Warren will be out for a while. The team hasn't made any decisions on his future.
The Broncos signed Warren last week in the hopes he would shore up their defensive line. The triceps tear puts all that on hold. Though we don't know the details of the injury, it's possible it could keep him out for a couple of months. As the Post reports, there's no reason to rush into the decision on surgery right away.
Both Warren and the Broncos have incentive to put off surgery in hopes he can heal enough to play. Because Warren is 30 years old and missed all of last season to recover from hip surgery, surgery to repair his latest injury could threaten not only his season but career. Why rush into that?
Good point. It's a tough spot for both Warren and the Broncos. He was one of the top free agents they added this season so clearly they had high hopes for him this year. As SB Nation's Mile High Report notes, he was given the biggest free agent contract for the Broncos this offseason.
