The Buffalo Bills released former first round pick Aaron Maybin this week and the linebacker is close to finding his next home. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, Maybe is on his way to New York to take a physical with the Jets.
If all goes well, he's expected to sign with them. They have reportedly made a contract offer, pending the physical.
Maybin's a major disappointment as the former 12th overall pick. He lasted just two years in Buffalo and, after he was waived, wasn't claimed by any team. If a team had claimed him, they'd also be claiming his contract, which actually wasn't that bad considering most of the money had already been paid.
If Maybin is going to be successful, New York is as good of a spot as any. He'll work with defensive guru Rex Ryan, who has a way of getting the most out of players. One player that reminds me of Maybin, however, didn't fare so well in New York -- LB Vernon Gholston. He's a former sixth overall pick that left New York as a draft bust.
So the next step for Maybin is to take the physical, sign his offer from the Jets and join the team. Check out Gang Green Nation to see what Jets fans are saying about the possibility of adding Maybin.
