The 2011 preseason AP Poll represented every major conference, of course, but there were also a few non-BCS teams included in the poll. Leading the way, as has been typical the past few years, are the Boise State Broncos.
The Broncos picked up two first place votes in the Associated Press's annual preseason poll to rank them as the fifth-best team heading into the upcoming NCAA football season. In all, Boise State picked up 1,200 total votes. The Broncs will begin the season by heading to Atlanta to face-off with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Provided Boise State is able to win that game, it should be smooth sailing for the Broncos until they meet the TCU Horned Frogs on November 12. The Horned Frogs are ranked No. 14 in the AP's poll, a solid spot for them as they remain the second big non-BCS team in a land that should be dominated by the more prestigious programs.
Notre Dame is another non-BCS team accounted for in the poll, with a No. 16 ranking, though the Fighting Irish don't really have the underdog moniker associated with them like their Boise State and TCU brethren.
