Terrell Thomas' Injury Comes At Worst Time For Him, Giants

The New York Giants dominated the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football but the players and their fans are waking up the next morning feeling like it was a loss. That's because CB Terrell Thomas tore his ACL in the game and that will end his season before it even started.

The Giants defense is obviously devastated as no one wants to see a player, especially a rising star, suffer a season-ending injury so early in the year. Here's Justin Tuckvia Big Blue View:

"Him being pretty much emerging himself as one of the elite corners in this league. A young kid, that you can just tell his confidence level was tremendous coming into camp. Probably our number one corner," said Giants' defensive captain Justin Tuck.

He was one of the Giants best players, not only on defense but on the entire team. The Giants are already missing CB Prince Amukamara, which makes Thomas' injury even worse, so depth at the cornerback position is becoming an issue.

Tuck said Thomas was "on another level" in training camp this year so it's disappointing to see this happen.

Bears vs. Giants Update: DB Terrell Thomas Leaves Game With Torn ACL

Giants fans remember all too well the pain of losing a top DB in the preseason to a season-ending injury (Jason Sehorn, anyone?). They might have just lost another one in Terrell Thomas, who left the Chicago Bears - New York Giants preseason game Monday night with a torn ACL.

Thomas tumbled into teammate Jason Pierre-Paul while trying to sack the Bears' QB. His leg seemed to slam against Pierre-Paul's and fell to the ground. He would stand up and walk gingerly to the sidelines, while flinging his hands in the air in frustration.

It's a tough loss for the G-men. Thomas is considered a player that New York can't afford to lose and, assuming what we know about ACL injuries, he's likely gone for a large chunk of the season, if not the entire thing.

Thomas actually sat out a big part of practice with soreness in his right knee.

The Giants are already short-handed at cornerback with 2011 first-round pick Prince Amukamara out with a broken bone in his foot.
