Read More: Peyton Manning (QB - DEN), Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans
Peyton Manning still might not be ready to start in the Indianapolis Colts' regular season opener against the Houston Texans, but at least he's getting back to practice. The Colts activated him from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Monday and he will be allowed to start practicing on a limited basis immediately.
Here's what the Colts had to say about Manning's rehabilitation and practice schedule, via their club website:
He will participate in practice on a limited basis. All of his practice work will be scripted and on a controlled basis. The participation in limited football activity is a standard procedure in the club's rehab protocol.
Manning underwent neck surgery in May and is still believed to be a number of weeks from returning to full action. If Manning is unable to start against the Texans, which seems very likely despite this positive development, Colts General Manager Bill Polian has said that Kerry Collins, not Curtis Painter will be the likely starter.
