Stay connected with SB Nation

The first year of the 12-team Big Ten may be a good one, according to the 2011 preseason college football rankings. The preseason USA Today top 25 features five Big Ten teams, second-best in the nation, including new addition Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers come in at No. 11, one spot behind defending Big Ten co-champion and Rose Bowl representative Wisconsin. Those two schools are the Big Ten's only entries in the top 15, but No. 16 Ohio State and No. 17 Michigan State give the conference as many schools in the top 17 of the poll as the SEC has. The Big Ten's final representative is No. 25 Penn State, which clutches the last spot in the top 25.

Only the SEC, with eight teams in the preseason top 25, outpaces the Big Ten, but the Big 12 also has five teams in the top 25, including three in the top 10.

Here's the full list of Big Ten teams in the 2011 USA Today preseason coaches poll:

No. 10 Wisconsin
No. 11 Nebraska
No. 16 Ohio State
No. 17 Michigan State
No. 25 Penn State
