Former Bears center Olin Kreutz is definitely not retiring now. As NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports, he's visiting the New Orleans Saints.
The six-time Pro Bowler was a fixture on the Bears offensive line for 13 years, but was forced out the door last week when former Seahawks center Chris Spencer signed in Chicago.
After briefly mulling retirement, Kreutz is now full speed ahead with the first legitimate free agency of his career, and going to a recent Super Bowl champion — with most of that team intact — isn't a bad landing spot for him.
The Saints are looking to replace a Pro Bowl center of their own after Jonathan Goodwin signed with the 49ers on Wednesday, and though Kreutz isn't the lineman he once was, that wouldn't be too steep of a drop-off. I know Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas and recently acquired Darren Sproles would appreciate more veteran leadership on the O-line, which Kreutz can certainly provide.
