The instant communication medium of Twitter can be a useful tool for getting information out fast. It can also get people in trouble, as radio host Tony Bruno found out Friday night. He apparently sent out a racist remark via his Twitter account after Ramon Ramirez hit Shane Victorino in the back with a pitch during the Phillies/Giants game, inciting a brawl. Bruno is from Philadelphia, though until recently he had an hour-long segment with Gary Radnich on San Francisco radio station KNBR. The segment was cancelled in July.
I say “apparently” because the tweet was deleted shortly thereafter, though you can see what it said at the above link. Or here. Bruno later posted an apology on his Facebook page, but as you can see via this Twitter search, a lot of people were (and still are) quite upset with what Bruno said.
Ah, the joys of modern communication. The Phillies beat the Giants for the second straight day, but San Francisco maintained first place in the NL West after the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks. As for the brawl, it’s likely suspensions will be issued in the near future.
