DeSean Jackson's Holdout Reportedly Ending; New Deal In Sight?

The Philadelphia Eagles are without a pair of their top receivers in training camp in WR Jeremy Maclin, who is suffering from an undisclosed illness, and WR DeSean Jackson, who is unhappy with his contract. He's due $600,000 in 2011 and is making the case that he deserves a long-term contract extension.

The Eagles team policy says a player has to be in camp to be eligible for a new contract. It's their way of dealing with holdouts like Jackson.

According to the latest reports, he's expected to end his holdout from Eagles training camp on Monday. ESPN's Dan Graziano lays out the timeline of Jackson's arrival at camp and how a new deal could get done.

If he shows up Monday, he could take a physical, meet with coaches and watch from the sidelines while the team and his agent spend Monday and Tuesday negotiating a new deal. That way, the Eagles haven't violated their policy about not negotiating with holdouts and Jackson hasn't put himself at risk of injury.

The Eagles have Tuesday off so that's two days for contract talks but it's still a big if.

Either way, the two sides need to come to an agreement. Jackson is indeed underpaid but, at the same time, he's also under contract right now and needs to honor that while he finds his new deal.

As Bleeding Green Nation points out, Jackson will arrive in camp with agent Drew Rosenhaus.
