Looking at a list of pitchers with one career save led me to this question: Who's the best pitcher who won just one game?↵
I think the answer is Jack Nabors, who pitched 270 innings and won just once. In 1915, he went 0-5. In 1916, he went 1-20. And in 1917, he didn't win or lose in a couple of short relief outings.
Nabors wasn't a good pitcher; his 3.87 ERA was lousy for the Dead Ball Era. But he deserved a lot better than a 1-25 career record. He's the only pitcher since 1901 to throw more than 165 innings with just one victory.↵
