Jair Jurrjens Not Necessarily Out For Season

The last time we heard from Jair Jurrens, it was unlikely that he would return from a bone bruise in his right knee before the regular season ended. The entire Atlanta Braves pitching staff seems to have one ailment or another, and the Braves are currently relying on three rookies to hold down the rotation.

Getting Jurrens back, even if only for the playoffs, would probably make the team feel more comfortable. There is some good news, then, from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Jurrjens felt really good in 50-pitch bullpen session, full effort. Will throw 50 pitches Fri. at Instruct. League. Won't be back b4 2nd rd.

Ah, Twitter, where serious journalists are forced to write sentences that look like Prince song titles.

The Braves would have to make the playoffs first, of course, and then they'd have to advance past the NLDS, which hasn't been an organizational specialty for the past several years. But if they do all of that, there could be a healthy Jurrens waiting for them, which would certainly be a help for the rest of the playoffs.
