Cy Young Watch

Unless he really sucks in his next few starts, Justin Verlander's going to be the unanimous choice in the American League. You know a pitcher's in good shape when usually reasonable people start talking about the MVP Award.

In the National League, the Cy Young is completely up in the air. Ian Kennedy ran his record to 18-4 against the Giants. Clayton Kershaw's 17-5 and leads the league with 222 strikeouts. And with yesterday's shutout, Cliff Lee actually has a lower ERA -- by just the thinnest of whiskers -- than Roy Halladay.

Halladay still leads the world in strikeout-to-walk ratio, but that alone won't be enough. This one's going to be interesting, sports fans.
