Read More: Peyton Manning (QB - DEN), Indianapolis Colts
After much speculation, Indianapolis Colts executive Bill Polian went on local radio Wednesday and confirmed that the team has officially ruled QB Peyton Manning out for Sunday's Week 1 game against the Houston Texans. It should not have been a surprise but it was hard to digest considering the guy had started every NFL game he's been in dating back to 1998.
The next question in the Manning story is how long he'll be out. Colts owner Jim Irsay touched on this subject in two tweets on Thursday morning.
First, Irsay confirmed Manning did not have another surgery last weekend, as an Indy radio host reported.
Peyton didn't have a medical procedure last sunday,we'll have more info 2 add clarity 2 situation soon
Second, he suggested Manning could miss more than just one game.
NFL Season opens 2nite!We had a good practice yesterday and r guys r fired up 4 the season.#18's out for awhile, but compete,we will/BELIEVE
I don't know what "awhile" exactly means but it sounds like this may be more than a one-week injury. Several reports are surfacing that Manning could be done for the year but those haven't been confirmed and it sounds like the Colts haven't even made that decision yet.
Check out Stampede Blue where they're dissecting everything coming out of the Colts front office regarding Manning's injury.
