The second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament kicks off on Thursday. The first game on the slate for the day's action features No. 6 seed Murray St. Racers taking on No. 11 seed Colorado St. Rams. Through halftime, the Rams have been more than Murray state bargained for. The game enters halftime with Colorado State on top, 24-23.
The Racers fell behind early, as Colorado State went on a run and looked much sharper on the floor than did their opponents. Murray State went ahead for the first time with 9:30 left in the half. After the teams exchanged leads a few times, the Racers held a slim lead for several minutes before the Rams took the lead once again with a Jesse Carr three-pointer with less than two minutes left in the half.
Pierce Hornung of the Rams looks great through the first half, getting under the basket for a slew of rebounds and sinking the shots he takes. If Colorado State manages to pull off the upset, it will be in large part due to the enormous effort of Hornung. The forward has 11 rebounds and six points in the first half.
