The No. 12-seeded VCU Rams lead the No. 5-seeded Witchita State Shockers at halftime, 34-25. The Rams trailed in the game early, but head coach Shaka Smart was able to calm his team down and, as the Rams rallied to go into halftime with a good lead. Bradford Burgess leads the way for VCU with 13 points, despite hitting on just one of his five three-point shots. The Rams haven't shot that well from the three-point line as a team, but their defense has limited the Shockers from there as well.
Wichita State has hit on just one three-point shot in the game as they trail at halftime. Carl Hall is the Shockers' leading scorer with six points off the bench, but the Shockers have struggled to keep up with VCU's speed and tempo. Both Ben Smith and Toure' Murry have picked up five points for the Shockers, but as a team, the Rams just haven't let them take any easy shots. The Shockers will need to find their shots and slow down the game to catch up in the second half, or else they may find themselves as the first team upset in the Tournament.
