March Madness Scores: Notre Dame Narrowly Leads Xavier 33-31 At Halftime

After watching 15th-seeded Lehigh knock off the No. 2-seeded Duke Blue Devils in the Round of 64, the seventh-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the 10th-seeded Xavier Musketeers are embroiled in a battle to see who gets to face Lehigh for a spot in the Sweet 16. After a back-and-forth first half, the Irish are up on the Musketeers, 33-31.

Xavier is doing everything right offensively, but haven't been able to prevent the Irish from getting to the rim. The Musketeers are shooting 45.8 percent, they have eight assists on 11 baskets and are winning the rebound battle 14-10. Kenny Frease has 10 points and Tu Holloway has eight for Xavier.

The Irish, however, are getting almost all of their shots near the rim, and it's shown. Though they're just 4-12 from downtown, they're shooting 51.9 percent from the field. Seven different players have scored for the Irish, but they're being led by Jack Cooley's nine points. Cooley missed a free throw, but he's been a perfect 4-4 from the field so far.
