2012 NCAA Bracket, Saint Mary's Vs. Purdue Final Score: Boilermakers Survive, 72-69

Stay connected with SB Nation

Purdue led almost wire-to-wire in its 72-69 win over Saint Mary's in the Second Round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. But the Boilermakers had to hang on late to get their ticket to the weekend.

Terone Johnson had 21 points, five assists and four rebounds for Purdue, and Lewis Jackson added 18 points of his own. The Boilermakers needed to stave off a late 18-5 Saint Mary's run that gave the Gaels the lead to advance, though, and did so by scoring the game's final four points and holding the Gaels scoreless for the final 45 seconds of play.

For Saint Mary's, Rob Jones had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Matthew Dellavedova contributed 12 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

The Boilermakers advance to play the winner of Kansas-Detroit.
