If you follow college basketball, you probably know Kansas State head coach Frank Martin. You know him for his sideline outbursts, his demeanor during games, and you probably have an opinion of him because of it. Judging just by what's seen during the game, he seems like a loose cannon.
Yet, despite the public show and frequent outbursts, Martin's players seem to love him. They're loyal because he's fiercely loyal.
Some of that was on display following Kansas State's loss to Syracuse on Saturday morning. Following a question about Jamar Samuels, who was suddenly ruled out for Saturday's game with an eligibility issue, Martin broke down and fought back tears.
Sure, his approach can be grating and abrasive. But there's also this side to it all. If nothing else, he's an interesting, perhaps complex, coach.
