2012 NCAA Bracket, Kentucky Vs. Indiana Final Score: Wildcats Win Shootout, 102-90

The Kentucky Wildcats are headed to the Elite Eight on the back of a spectacular offensive performance in the Sweet 16. The Indiana Hoosiers scored frequently enough to hang with Kentucky and surprisingly matched their pace for much of the game, but they couldn't stay with the Wildcats in the closing minutes of their 102-90 victory.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist played second fiddle to Terrence Jones in the first half, but he stole the show in the second half. In addition to his 7-15 shooting performance from the floor, he got to the free throw line frequently and was 10-10 from the charity stripe in a 24 point, 10 rebound performance.

Indiana hung with Kentucky until the 4:49 mark in the second half, when Victor Oladipo fouled out. He had been playing excellent defense all game against a Kentucky team that changes the standards for excellent defense, and with him out, the Hoosiers didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of making stops. Kentucky only led 82-77 at that point, but Oladipo's exit effectively ended the game.

Christian Watford led all scorers with 27 points while Cody Zeller scored 20. All five Indiana starters scored in double figures and the Hoosiers shot 52 percent from the floor. They simply didn't have an answer on the other end, though, as Kentucky constantly forced Indiana into fouls by getting to the basket with their athleticism. The Wildcats finished the game 35-37 from the free throw line.

Kentucky Vs. Indiana Score, 2012 NCAA Tournament: Wildcats Hold Second Half Lead

It's going to be a long road back for the Indiana Hoosiers. The Kentucky Wildcats are looking just a little too good offensively at the moment. They lead 76-66 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the second half, and they don't appear to have an answer on the defensive end.

Terrence Jones was great in the first half and Indiana has accounted for him, but others have stepped up around him. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Doron Lamb both have 17 points in the game. Anthony Davis is back on the floor after sitting out much of the first half, and his presence has improved Kentucky's defense dramatically. Indiana is struggling to get anything easy inside, in contrast to what they did in the time that Davis was not on the floor.

ANIMATED: Darius Miller Is In The Matrix

This GIF explains a lot. This whole time, Darius Miller has just been playing in the Matrix. Apparently he took the blue pill before the tournament and has refused to eat that pesky red pill since.

And because he's hanging out in the Matrix, we get GIFs like this.

Jones3_medium

Another explanation: He knew the shot was going in and decided to do The Bernie in celebration. Either way, Miller has powers.

Correction: The initial post listed the player as Terrence Jones. It was Darius Miller.

NCAA Tournament Scores, Kentucky Vs. Indiana: Wildcats Lead By Three At Halftime

The Kentucky Wildcats and Indiana Hoosiers are playing at a terrific pace, and no one appears to be the least bit tired. Though the pace was more to Kentucky's liking, Indiana are hanging with them and they're only down three points. Kentucky's defense hasn't been terrific, but they're scoring like crazy and they lead 50-47 at halftime.

Terrence Jones has been Kentucky's best player thus far with 12 points and four rebounds. He's hit one three and has a great alley-oop finish, among other baskets as part of a great first-half performance.

On the other end of the floor, Kentucky have done a terrible job of slowing down Christian Watford, who has been gifted a number of easy buckets. He leads all scorers with 17 points on 6-11 shooting. All of Indiana's other starters have been good offensively as well, but the Hoosiers only have two bench points.

Will Sheehey has been effective and is shooting 3-4. Unfortunately for him, the miss was more memorable than any of the makes.

Both teams are in a bit of foul trouble, though both coaches managed this very well. Cody Zeller picked up two early fouls, but only sat on the bench very briefly. He came back in with 10 minutes remaining in the half and did not pick up another foul. Alternatively, John Calipari opted to leave Anthony Davis on the bench in a similar situation. Zeller, Davis, Jordan Hulls, Victor Oladipo, Terrence Jones and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist all have two fouls, and the teams are lucky that no one has three fouls.

Indiana isn't going to get easy buckets inside all game and they're not going to continue to shoot 58 percent from the floor. They're going to have to slow down the tempo to one that's closer to their liking, keep themselves out of foul trouble and start hitting some outside shots to keep up with the Wildcats in the second half.

Kansas Vs. N.C. State Score, 2012 NCAA Tournament: Wolfpack Holds Slim Lead In First Half

On Friday, the No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks took on the No. 11 N.C. State Wolfpack in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. In one of two Sweet 16 nightcap matchups, the Wolfpack entered the game knowing they were now the only double-digit seed remaining in the tournament. As such, the persistence of any potential Cinderella story would need to rely on them to pull off the win and advance to the Elite Eight. The Wolfpack are already showing how formidable that are, as they lead 17-16 midway through the first half.

N.C. State took control early, jumping out to a 9-1 lead in the first three and a half minutes of play. They pushed their lead to double digits before the Jayhawks scored their second field goal, but Kansas pushed back and scored six unanswered points to keep the game from getting out of control. Still, N.C. State has managed to hold the lead for the time being.

PHOTO: Harbaugh Brothers Take In Indiana-Kentucky

Why hello there Jim and John Harbaugh. Nice to see you two at the NCAA Tournament

Harbaugh_1_medium

If you're wondering what they're doing at an Indiana game, Tom Crean is their brother-in-law.

A few things to note about the image. The man in the front with his arms up is your typical "WOOOOOO" guy. Look at Jim Harbaugh's arm. He looks pretty ripped, right? The arm of the girl behind him is blending with his own, creating some wild tricep action.

Kentucky Vs. Indiana Score, 2012 NCAA Tournament: Hoosiers Trailing, But Hanging With Wildcats

The Kentucky Wildcats are in control in the first half of their Sweet 16 game, but the Indiana Hoosiers are hanging in there. Unfortunately, they're in a whole lot of foul trouble, and that's going to become more of an issue as the first half goes on. With just under 10 minutes remaining in the game, Kentucky leads 31-24.

Incredibly, Indiana already has nine personal fouls. The good news for them, if there is any on that front, is that no player has picked up three fouls. Four of those nine fouls came, inexplicably, in a 26-second span.

Terrence Jones is shooting the ball well for Kentucky and leads all scorers with 10 points. His highlight so far is this, a great alley-oop finish.

Marquis Teague is just 2-5 from the floor, but has four assists. Victor Oladipo leads Indiana with seven points, but he's one of three Indiana players with two fouls. Kentucky has only three fouls, but two of them are on Anthony Davis. John Calipari is being cautious and sitting him down.

2012 NCAA Bracket, UNC Vs. Ohio Score: Tar Heels Manage 73-65 Overtime Win

Friday night's Sweet 16 game between No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels and No. 13 Ohio Bobcats was yet another classic. The 2012 NCAA Tournament has seemed to be full of them. While the Bobcats hoped to write their own Cinderella story with a win to advance to the Elite Eight, they fell just short in overtime by a final score of 73-65.

The Bobcats did a valiant job of clawing back into the game after falling behind early and were able to force the game into overtime, but were unable to get their early shots to fall in the extra period. They quickly fell behind by five points, then fell behind by six in the final 23 seconds.

Walter Offutt had an amazing game for Ohio, finishing with 26 points, although there is one point he notably did not get: his missed free throw at the end of the second half very well could have been the game winner. UNC's Tyler Zeller finished with 20 points and 23 rebounds in a spectacular game.

Nick Fasulo of Searching for Billy Edelin breaks down the game:

2012 NCAA Bracket, UNC Vs. Ohio Score Update: Game Heads To Overtime Tied 63-63

The No.1 North Carolina Tar Heels and the No. 13 Ohio Bobcats played one another on Friday night in a Sweet 16 matchup in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats were attempting to continue their string of improbable upsets and make it into the Elite Eight. At the end of regulation, the Ohio hopes are still alive, as the game heads to overtime tied up, 63-63.

Early on, Ohio looked overmatched and UNC led 29-22 at halftime. After the break, the Bobcats looked decidedly more focused, as they slowly and steadily eliminated the Tar Heels' lead. Ohio went ahead late in the game, but the final three minutes of regulation saw the two teams matching one another basket for basket. Ohio held a one-point lead into the final minute before Reggie Bullock dropped a three-pointer to put UNC up 63-61 with 0:42 left in the game. Walter Offutt sank an impossible layup to tie it up while getting fouled, but missed the free throw with about 20 seconds left on the clock. UNC had their shot blocked, sending the game to overtime.

Here is Offutt's shot:

2012 NCAA Bracket, Baylor Vs. Xavier Final Score: Bears Advance To Elite Eight With 75-70 Win

The No. 3 Baylor Bears beat the No. 10 Xavier Musketeers Friday night in the second and final day of the Sweet 16. In the end, only one team was able to pick up the win and advance to the Elite Eight and it was clear from the early going that Baylor had too much talent and ability for Xavier to keep up with. The Bears won with a final score of 75-70, in a game that was not as close as the score may indicate.

The Musketeers fell behind in a big way right off the bat, but battled back throughout, managing to come as close as within four points of the lead early in the second half. Unfortunately, their woes from the field began to multiply and they began looking more disjointed as the evening wore on. They fell behind by 10 points once again in the last 4:00 of regulation and had two separate stretches of longer than four minutes without scoring after halftime. In particular, the Musketeers were abysmal from behind the three-point line, going just 3-for-15 on three-point attempts.

The standout for Baylor was forward Quincy Acy, who finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds, including a score of thunderous dunks.

2012 NCAA Bracket, Baylor Vs. Xavier Score Update: Bears Still In Control In Second Half

Friday night is already seeing plenty of action as the Sweet 16 continues in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The No. 3 Baylor Bears are taking on the No. 10 Xavier Musketeers. The Musketeers got overwhelmed early in the game but are doing everything they can to prevent being eliminated. The Bears are still in control midway through the second half, leading 49-44 with about 10:00 left in regulation.

The Musketeers managed to get within four points of Baylor at about the 13:00 mark, but are looking more tense and desperate than their opponents. Both teams have seen strong performances, with Quincy Acy already posting a double-double for Baylor and Kenny Frease putting up 16 points for Xavier. The Musketeers have been awful from long distance, going 0-for-10 from beyond the three-point line.

VIDEO: All Your Dunks Belong To Quincy Acy

If you haven't yet, watch Quincy Acy's first dunk of the night. It was pretty powerful and quite spectacular. But you didn't think Acy, dunker extraordinaire, was done yet, did you? Of course not.

Let's try this again, off an inbounds play. Acy probably bruised the rim and Kenny Frease's ego.

And that's why you don't pose when down 14 early in the first half, Mr. Frease.

NCAA Tournament Scores, UNC Vs. Ohio: Tar Heels Lead 29-22 At Halftime

Friday marks the second and final day of the Sweet 16 in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Two of the teams currently duking it out for the right to advance to the prestigious Elite Eight are the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels and the No. 13 Ohio Bobcats. At the end of the first half, the Tar Heels are ahead, 29-22

North Carolina threatened to open up a big lead and let the game get out of hand for Ohio, but the Bobcats were able to battle back and stay in it. They will need to regroup in a big way and get more of their shots to fall in the second half to keep alive their dreams of a national championship.

Tyler Zeller is having a huge game for UNC. Through the first half, he already has a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

2012 NCAA Bracket, UNC Vs. Ohio Score Update: Tar Heels Lead In First Half

The second and final day of the Sweet 16 takes place Friday. The fourth round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament leads directly to the Elite Eight, as the competition heats up and the field of contenders for a national title gets ever narrower. One of Friday night's games pits the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels against the surprising No. 13 Ohio Bobcats, who are trying to be this year's Cinderella story. Midway through the first half, North Carolina is sporting a healthy lead in a low-scoring affair, up 19-8 at the 10:00 mark.

For the first few minutes of play, the teams matched another basket for basket, although both teams were having some issues scoring. While the score has stayed low, North Carolina has been more consistent from the floor and more stingy on defense. The Tar Heels have six turnovers against just two from Ohio, but they are still leading midway through the first half. UNC's Tyler Zeller already has eight points.

March Madness Scores: Baylor Leads Xavier, But Musketeers Building Momentum

In the first 12 minutes of the first half, the Xavier Musketeers didn't appear to belong on the same floor as the Baylor Bears. At one stage of the game, they trailed by 17 points. However, they picked it up in the final eight minutes of the half and stopped turning the ball over, while forcing Baylor to cough it up on multiple occasions. Despite their big start, Baylor only leads 36-29 at halftime.

Xavier has eight turnovers to Baylor's seven, and at times things have seemed even sloppier than those numbers indicate. Xavier's shooting just 41 percent and hasn't been good offensively, but Kenny Frease has been effective. He leads all scorers with 12 points. Quincy Acy leads Baylor with eight points and six rebounds. Two of those points came on this monstrous dunk.

Xavier Vs. Baylor, 2012 NCAA Tournament: Bears Cruising Early

The Xavier Musketeers appear to have finally met their match in the NCAA Tournament. At the under-eight minute TV timeout in the first half of their Sweet 16 game, the Baylor Bears have a sizable 28-12 lead. They've overmatched Xavier in every conceivable way and it's going to take something remarkable for the Musketeers to make this interesting.

There hasn't been any dominant Baylor player in particular. They're spreading the ball around very well. Brady Heslip leads all scorers with seven points, but a total of seven Bears have scored. Perry Jones and Quincy Acy are both 3-3 from the floor and have six points each.

Xavier are getting outworked on the boards and they're turning the ball over. Baylor have five steals already. The Musketeers are just not in the same physical category as Baylor, and it shows.

Kendall Marshall Injury: Stilman White In, Marshall Out

Stilman White is a freshman guard who plays for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He averaged 4.3 minutes per game, 0.7 points per game and 0.6 assists per game this season. On Friday night, in UNC's Sweet 16 game against the Ohio Bobcats, he will be the starting point guard. The school confirmed that Marshall will not play and that White will take his place.

Marshall suffered a broken left wrist (he is left-handed) during UNC's win against the Creighton Bluejays. He had surgery on the wrist the next day and was considered doubtful to play all week, but was not ruled out completely until Friday night. Seniors Justin Watts and Patrick Crouch could also play much more than usual against Ohio.
